Book review

The book is inspired by the experiences of the writer, a medical doctor, who collapses while running. It is a poignant story describing his ordeal, his physical and emotional trauma, and the various medical procedures to which he is subjected.

The writer, a Nuclear Medicine Physician who obtained a doctorate from the University of Cape Town, is a researcher who has published many articles in his field. His medical career spans over 35 years and his interest in preventive cardiology stems from the sudden cardiac death of his father who was 47 at the time. Nuclear cardiology and cardiac imaging form a major part of the author'sdaily work.

He offers invaluable advice to sportspersons and others who may be at risk of coronary artery disease and the reader is given a wonderful insight into the world of medical procedures designed to diagnose and treat heart disease. The author describes, in simple language, sophisticated medical procedures, thus making the information accessible to everyone.
